Hotel Review: Tribute Hotel
Looking for a budget-friendly hotel in Quezon City that doesn't skimp on the little things? In this Tribute Hotel review, I'm sharing everything from our check-in to the room, breakfast, and facilities. The Tribute Hotel is a 3-star hotel tucked on a quiet street near Tomas Morato, which means you get a peaceful night's sleep while staying a short walk from some of the best restaurants in the city.
We had a few hiccups during our stay, and I'll be honest about those too. But overall? We had a great time.
Our Experience at Tribute Hotel
We arrived at 2:50 PM, a few minutes before the official check-in time. There wasn't much of a crowd at the front desk (just two other groups checking in), and the process was quick and easy. By 3:00 PM, we were already heading up to our room.
Parking was one of the highlights of this stay. The hotel has plenty of covered parking in the basement, and it's free. We didn't even have to present a parking voucher or proof of check-in.
Our first few minutes in the room didn't go as smoothly. The room felt warm when we walked in, and the aircon took some time to cool it down. The bigger problem was a funky smell coming from the bedsheets and pillowcases. It smelled like the linens hadn't dried properly (amoy kulob, if you know that smell), and it was strong enough that we asked to transfer rooms.
The front desk apologized right away. There were no available rooms for a transfer, so they first offered to spray the room while we waited. When I explained that the smell was coming from the sheets, they offered to change all the beddings and see if that fixed it, while they kept looking for another room on their end. They also told us to call right away if the problem continued.
Housekeeping replaced the beddings, and the smell was gone.
The Room at the Tribute Hotel
We stayed in the Deluxe Twin Room, which is 26 square meters with two beds. It's a comfortable size for our family, and there's enough floor space to open your luggage without tripping over it. The room is carpeted, and there's a socket near the bed, so you can charge your phone without stretching the cord across the room.
The two features that surprised me the most were the balcony and the bathtub. Plenty of pricier hotels in Metro Manila don't have either, so finding both in an affordable 3-star hotel was a pleasant bonus. The windows also open, which I loved. Being able to let in fresh air makes a big difference, especially after our linen situation.
QUICK TIP: Turn on the aircon as soon as you get to your room. It takes a while to cool down, so give it time before you settle in.
Room Inclusion
The room comes with a flat-screen TV, an electric kettle for coffee or tea, a desk, a telephone, and an in-room safety deposit box. For your clothes, there's a wardrobe and a separate clothes rack, which helps if you're staying more than a night and don't want to live out of your suitcase.
The private bathroom has a shower, a bathtub, a bidet, and a hair dryer. Free toiletries, towels, toilet paper, and slippers are provided. The hotel also offers a wake-up service if you have an early morning.
Breakfast at the Tribute Hotel
Our booking was for two adults and one child with breakfast included, so we were surprised when we were asked to pay extra for Audrey. It turns out the included breakfast only covered the two adults, and Audrey's breakfast cost an additional ₱275.
The buffet is set up in the hotel restaurant, and it leans toward a classic Filipino breakfast. For hot dishes, there was garlic rice, scrambled egg, turmeric chicken adobo, pineapple ham (hamonado), ground beef with corn, peas, and carrots, and a tray of fried dried fish served with sliced cucumber and tomato. There was also a vegetable soup station and a steamer with siomai and colorful siopao in white, yellow, and ube.
The bread station had choco bread, white loaf, and a toaster, with strawberry jam, blueberry jam, and other spreads on the side. You'll also find cinnamon toast with maple syrup and two cereal dispensers with corn flakes and choco flakes.
There's a cold station with a salad bar (carrots, cucumber, bell peppers, singkamas, tomatoes, lettuce, and croutons with a few dressings), plus watermelon, papaya, and fruit salad. For something sweet, they had taho with arnibal and sago, puto cheese, a few kakanin, crinkles, and bars. Coffee and hot water are self-serve, and the condiment corner has ketchup, soy sauce, lechon sauce, garlic vinegar, fish sauce, and soy-calamansi.
It looks like a decent spread in photos, but the taste didn't match. This is the one area I think the hotel can improve on. The hamonado was bland and tasted ultra-processed, similar to what you'd pick up from the wet market. The rest of the food was okay, though nothing stood out. I also noticed a couple of flies around the halls and the lobby (two at most at the same time).
If your booking already includes breakfast, go and try it, but don't expect too much. If you're booking a room-only rate, you can skip the breakfast add-on. The hotel is within walking distance of so many restaurants near Tomas Morato that you don't need to include food in your reservation.
Facilities and Amenities at the Tribute Hotel
The lobby was clean and well kept. The hotel has a pool and a gym. Both are simple, but they're reasonable for the price you're paying.
The elevators are slow. The Wi-Fi was also slow, so if you're planning to work or stream during your stay, have mobile data ready as a backup.
