Hotel Review: Cubicity Hidden House

Ho Chi Minh City rewards travelers who leave room for a little spontaneity. A morning might begin with Vietnamese coffee at a neighborhood café, followed by a walk past colonial architecture and a long afternoon exploring the city’s food scene.

For our stay, my friend and I chose Cubicity Hidden House, an apartment-style accommodation in Tan Dinh, District 1. We wanted a place where we could settle in and have a little more room than a conventional hotel might provide. The property sits along a quiet street, away from some of the city’s busiest thoroughfares. Nearby convenience stores and local eateries make everyday errands easy. The Tan Dinh Church, aka Pink Church, is within walking distance. For travelers who value space and independence, Cubicity Hidden House makes a compelling case.

Our Experience at Cubicity Hidden House

Our experience began well before we reached the property. On the day of our arrival, our host, Hanna, sent a message confirming that the room was ready. She also provided directions to the building and instructions for entering, which helped us prepare for a late check-in.

We arrived at around 10:30 PM, close to the end of the property’s stated check-in window. The front desk was unattended, so we contacted the number provided by our host and collected our keys. The arrangement felt more like checking into a serviced apartment than a conventional hotel, but the process was straightforward.

Communication made the difference. Hanna remained responsive, and the instructions gave us a clear idea of what to do upon arrival. The building also has a small elevator, a practical detail that became especially welcome after a long day of travel.

The property requested copies of our passports for guest registration. Accommodation providers in Vietnam must register foreign guests with the local authorities, so travelers should expect to present their identification details during check-in.

Inside the Queen Room

The first thing we noticed upon entering our room was the space. We had booked a Queen Room, and the apartment felt generous for two friends sharing a stay. There was enough room to move around comfortably without feeling confined to the sleeping area.

The sofa and coffee table create a separate place to sit. A dining table adds another useful surface for meals, morning coffee, or sorting through the day’s plans. The arrangement gives the room a more residential character than a typical hotel bedroom.

The air conditioning worked well, which we appreciated after spending time outdoors in Ho Chi Minh City’s tropical heat. The room felt clean during our stay, and the furnishings covered the essentials without making the space feel crowded.

The kitchen was one of the most useful features of our room. It came equipped with a refrigerator, stove, microwave, and kitchen utensils, giving us the option to prepare simple meals and keep drinks or snacks on hand. The setup also gives you more control over food expenses during your trip.

The room included a television, cabinet, hair dryer, and iron. The private bathroom had a hot and cold shower, covering the basics after a day spent walking around the city.

One detail worth checking before booking is the housekeeping arrangement. Our notes indicate that we could request cleaning once during our stay. Confirm the current policy with the property, especially when planning a longer visit.

Tan Dinh: A Quieter Corner of Ho Chi Minh City

Location often shapes the character of a trip, and Tan Dinh gives this stay a different pace from accommodation along the city’s busiest streets. The neighborhood has local shops, food options, and everyday conveniences within reach. We particularly appreciated having a convenience store nearby for snacks and drinks.

The Pink Church is one of the area’s best-known landmarks. Its distinctive pink exterior makes Tan Dinh Church a worthwhile stop for architecture enthusiasts and travelers who enjoy photographing the city. The church is within walking distance of the property.
