Girls Night at The Fun Roof, Poblacion Makati
A workmate and friend celebrated her birthday and invited us for a night out at The Fun Roof in Poblacion, Makati.
Nights out with friends are rare for me these days. Let alone a night with drinks involved. I walked in ready for a good one.
The Fun Roof
The Fun Roof calls itself Poblacion's biggest rooftop bar and playground, a neon-lit rooftop space built for grown ups who still want to play.
Their signature is the Trentahin Party, a monthly night built for people who now ask "anong oras tayo uuwi" before they ask "saan tayo iinom." Home by midnight. OPM classics, Y2K pop, early EDM, karaoke that turns into a full concert. Metro Manila's version of a reunion for retired party goers.
We arrived around 9 PM. The place was packed with millennials. Our friend had reserved two drinking decks, good for 10 people, right outside beside the bowling alley.
The indoor DJ carried the night. The playlist matched the mood we came in with, and that alone kept the energy up for most of the evening. People watching from our outdoor spot in the middle of the gaming area was its own entertainment.
The outdoor DJ setup needs work. The speaker cut in and out more than once.
We were seated outside, and the heat was a problem. No outdoor ventilation, no fans. The games looked worn out and poorly maintained, and the pathway going inside had a smell that stuck with you longer than it should have.
Food and pica pica options were limited. Our table was far from the kitchen, and it showed. Drinks and food took close to an hour to arrive, and by the time the food landed, it was already cold.
The overall experience was okay. Good playlist, good company, a concept that genuinely works for people who want a big night without the 3 AM aftermath. But the maintenance and service gaps pulled it down from what it could have been.
If you go, book early, ask for a table close to the kitchen, and manage your expectations on the games.

A few terms worth knowing before you reserve. Valid ID is required, and minors are not allowed even with a parent or guardian present. No outside food or drinks. Reservations are non-refundable. Exceeding your reserved headcount adds a P1,000 per head charge, which also counts as consumable. Rescheduling runs P200 for games and play passes, P1,000 for table reservations. Dress code is come as you are, but skip the slippers and sando. Damage fee starts at P5,000, and yes, there is a P1,500 vomit fee.
